Industrial Switching Power Supply – TDK MRW160

The MRW160 is an industrial multi-output switching power supply (“Industrial Switching Power Supply”) manufactured by TDK-Lambda, the power supply division of the TDK Group. The part number MRW160 identifies a unit with approximately 160 W total output power, with multiple DC output rails (typically +5 V, ±12 V and/or +24 V DC) designed to power logic boards, CNC controllers and auxiliary circuits in machine tools. The input accepts a universal AC supply (85–264 V AC, 47–63 Hz). The converter uses a high-frequency switching topology to achieve high efficiency and compact dimensions.

The power supply is the component that converts mains voltage into stabilised low-voltage DC rails, essential for the operation of all logic and control circuits in the CNC system. A power supply failure causes an immediate machine shutdown: without stable voltages, the CNC CPU, I/O boards and axis drives cannot operate, leaving the machine completely stopped until the unit is replaced or repaired.
