14″ Colour CRT Monitor for CNC – HEIDENHAIN BC 110B
The BC 110B is a 14-inch colour CRT monitor (“14-inch Colour CRT Monitor”) manufactured by HEIDENHAIN, designed as the dedicated operator display unit for CNC controls of the TNC series (specifically TNC 426 and TNC 430). The monitor is integrated into the machine tool control cabinet and provides the operator with all machining data, programming graphics and CNC diagnostic screens in real time. It employs CRT (colour cathode ray tube) technology with a resolution typical for this era of 640×480 pixels; it is AC-powered and fitted with proprietary HEIDENHAIN connectors for connection to the control unit.
The monitor is the primary interface between the operator and the CNC: it displays axis coordinates, NC programs, cycle screens and diagnostic pages in real time. A monitor failure renders the machine completely inoperable, since the operator cannot read axis positions, enter tool offset values or interpret active alarms; replacement with an identical or compatible unit is the only fast way to restore production.
HEIDENHAIN is a German company founded in 1889 in Traunreut (Bavaria), world leader in the manufacture of rotary and linear encoders, precision measurement systems and CNC controls for machine tools. The TNC controls are widely used on high-end milling centres, grinding machines and 5-axis machines. The BC 110B belongs to a generation of products now legacy / discontinued: CRT technology has been progressively replaced by flat LCD panels, and working units are available exclusively as used or through specialist repair services.
