10-Inch Monochrome CRT Monitor – OKUMA MDT-1005

The MDT-1005 is a 10-inch monochrome CRT display unit (“Monochrome CRT Display Unit”) manufactured by OKUMA, documented as the operator display for the OKUMA OSP 500 CNC control system. The screen constitutes the human-machine interface (HMI) of the CNC panel, showing machining parameters, programming pages, alarm messages, and machine diagnostics. The tube is a monochrome green-phosphor CRT, typical of 1980s–1990s CNC technology. This component was fitted to OKUMA lathes and machining centres equipped with the OSP 500 control.

The CRT monitor is the display unit that makes the CNC operator interface accessible: without it, the operator cannot read programs, machining parameters, tool offsets, or alarm messages. A faulty monitor renders the machine operationally blind — no cycles can be started, no adjustments made, and no faults diagnosed, resulting in an immediate production stoppage.

OKUMA Corporation is a Japanese manufacturer founded in 1898, a world leader in CNC machine tools (lathes, machining centres, grinders) and proprietary control systems. The OSP 500 control belongs to a legacy generation from the 1980s–1990s; the MDT-1005 monitor is legacy / discontinued: available only as used stock, surplus, or through specialist repair.
