The MR-J2-70A is a 700 W AC servo amplifier (“AC Servo Amplifier”) from the MELSERVO-J2 series manufactured by Mitsubishi Electric. It provides position, speed, and torque control of AC servo motors, accepting pulse train input for positioning mode and a ±10 V analogue reference for speed/torque modes. It is compatible with HC-KFS and HC-MFS family servo motors of the J2 series. The CN3 connector enables parameter configuration via RS-232C or RS-422 and real-time status monitoring.
The servo drive is the component that closes the control loop between the CNC controller and the servo motor: it receives the position or speed reference, reads the encoder feedback, and generates the current required to move the machine axis with precision. A failure of the MR-J2-70A results in the immediate stop of the controlled axis, rendering the machine inoperable: no motion can be performed without a functioning drive.
