Built-in Spindle Motor – NSK YS2020FN001

The YS2020FN001 is a built-in spindle motor (“Built-in Spindle Motor”) manufactured by NSK (Nippon Seiko), belonging to the YS series of high-speed spindle motors for CNC machining centres. The designation FN identifies the cooling configuration (forced liquid cooling and natural cooling). The motor is designed for direct integration into the machine tool spindle housing (“built-in” solution), eliminating belt transmission and ensuring superior dynamic performance and higher rotational accuracy. It can be paired with compatible NSK drives or third-party drives compliant with the motor’s electrical specifications.

The built-in spindle motor is the fundamental kinetic component of the CNC spindle head: it directly generates the torque and rotational speed transmitted to the tool, with no intermediate transmission elements. A motor failure immediately halts the machine’s cutting function; torque anomalies or vibration directly affect workpiece surface quality, tool wear and process safety.
